Why Cobalt SUCKS

Ok so my catchy title riled you ? Good, let me show you a pic ! Brand new Cobalt R7 2021 with rusty screws in an inland lake environment…not saltwater. Indicative of cheap probably Chinese screws…Malibu is kicking Cobalt OEM suppliers to the curb and opting for cheap Chinese product, this is right from the horses mouth. It won’t be long before our beloved Cobalt’s are downgraded to Malibu quality.

Pat should have never sold Cobalt…

I think someone grabbed the wrong screws on this problem.

At least you dont have gapping holes in the side of your boat when you pull up to the dock in front of everyone.

Kind of strong language for one screw head.

I mean…people are grabbing on to the outside skin of AF jets, and falling to the ground after take off to flee torture in Afghanistan, and we are upset over a rusty screw..
Time to reset your priorities OP..

Embarrassing.

Looking at the screw, it looks like there's some stuff in the pocket around the screw too. I wonder if it's minerals or muck from water that got in there and then evaporated, which would leave a residue on anything. It could be a bad screw, but I'd be tempted to pull it out and see if it's really a rusty screw or just deposits from water before running to West Marine for a replacement.

Sorry but everything I this works must stick because nothing is Perfect except my wife 😂😂
Oh and me.
Ok really.
So if we are dropping to Malibu's level that's not really that bad.
Honestly they sell one of the best tow boats around. It would be one of the first and only brands I would look at Along. With Nautique and MC. So they are in good company.
So trade it in and go buy a Bayliner 😂
Just kidding go give your boat a hug and tell her you love her.

I get the frustration. We are paying a premium price for a premium brand. Stainless is supposed to be stainless. Although a small item, how many more little surprises are hiding? Hopefully none. So far on my 2017 I have nothing to complain about.....Okay, there's the wildly inaccurate fuel , water temp, and air temp gauge... but I digress..... ;)

LOL, maybe I was too hard on the OP?
Naaaaa.
Too strong of words dissing a great product.

My head door jamb fell on the floor, stainless screws and all….on our maiden voyage…after a 6 month wait… exposing several holes from failed attempts…in front of friends who were admiring the quality of our new boat until that…
Door rattling until we blocked it with a cooler.

Yeah, I was embarrassed. Bottom line is this, one single punk guy who should be working at Burger King was installing the part.
The next day, knowing how minor it was, and not going to involve or waste my dealers time on a 5 minute repair, I fixed it myself.. and the boat has been flawless since.

Stuff breaks, some employees just don’t care… no matter where they work, and someone didn’t feel like going back to the parts shop to get a stainless screw, and found one on the floor.

Get over it, expect less, buy a .25 stainless screw and enjoy the boat.

I’m guessing it’s sits outside? No boat house? Tower is exposed to moisture and collects in pockets.
I found this on the internet so it must be true.

I have posted about problems with my new boat in the R forum. Yeah, disappointing for a boat of this price tag and reputation...but I would never in a thousand years post a separate thread with a title like this.

And...Pack is probably sorry about your experience.

😂😂😂😂😂

Just in case you never met dad. He's the best guy you will ever meet.
Which obviously you haven't by calling him Pat!

Also it's funny they don't have to run to the parts room to get screws. They have boxes of them all over. It's amazing how many screws are just laying around everywhere and I know and can't imagine how many seat covers they have to replace before it leaves the factory because someone kneeled on a screw laying on the seat.
