Of Minnesota! Just closed on a lake place on Lake Lanier. No more 4 month boating seasons for me---I'm down to the land of mild winters, warm water, and no more trailering. So if any of y'all every find yourself in that area, there's a standing invite. Good ribs, cold drinks and maybe a steak or two.....
BBP---I'm afraid this means you have to wait a while till the R3 is yours......but you can visit her anytime.

Sailor you know I'll take you up on that. Lanier is on my list
Congrats man. Glad you and Mrs sailor are doing better. You should jump in your car one day and meet us at TRL. You always have a seat in my boat as well
Again congrats and I can't wait to see pictures!

Thanks BBP---I truly appreciate that and hope you do make the call if you get to Lanier with or without your boat (there's a dock waiting for you!)
If I make it to TRL some day, it will be as a passenger and bartender! I can tell you after trailering for 1169 miles over some of the absolute roughest roads I have driven in a long time (I39 in Illinois and parts of 94 in Wisconsin) that I wouldn't tow that far again without a 3/4 ton. I've towed several trailers with my truck, and it did well overall but with almost 6k on the back, I could have used a little more suspension (IRS sucks for towing) and maybe a bit more wheelbase. I averaged almost 11mpg running between 65 and 70 over the trip, so I'm good with that. Power was no issue even up and over the mountains in TN and on smooth roads, things were solid but there were a few oh crap moments when things got sporty on the rough roads-one in particular that I wasn't sure what the outcome would be when I hit the bumps at 55mph. I do wish I had upgraded to EOH--there were a couple of push-pull moments over rough roads that I could only settle down by throttling up and I think EOH would have eliminated that. But, all good. I'll get you some pics when she's all settled in her new berth.

Sorry to see a fellow Minnesotan leave but happy for you to be able to be on your boat more than a few minutes a year!

Welcome to the South and Lanier! As a refugee from Maine I can tell you the long season will never get old.

Hey sailor, did you ever get your EZ fold bimini? Or did you figure something else out to get your boat in your new lift?

After reading the cooking thread, I may just have to take you up on that standing invitation.
I've been to Lake Lanier twice, both times to look at purchasing a used boat. One was the first time I piloted a Cobalt.
I'm sure you're going to love longer season, I know we do.

Re: Well, it's been fun, but....I'm officially out......
Thanks All---we are both nervous and excited---big change-
Snowman--still no EZ fold bimini. I didn't have time to get it done here in MN at Erickson and so far, the closest dealer in GA hasn't called me back after reaching out to them twice. First time I explained what I wanted and they thought I wanted to install a tower. and said they weren't sure what the EZ fold system was....second time, I left a detailed message at parts/service and no call back. Frustrating, but it is what it is at this point. I may have to remove the bimini till the spring, but if it's in a covered slip with a mooring cover, that will be ok for the winter.
At least I don't have the immenent winterization I would here. They claim you're on the boat till the end of November....

Yes to singleton marine
No to easy drain—1 year too early. Can’t believe no one has come out with a conversion since it’s the same block
