Cobalt's colored gelcoat v. painted boats

Interesting how boattest's own reviews state in the Formula finish video that paint and polish is somehow better than colored gelcoat, suggesting that with colored gelcoat, "5 or 10 years down the road you'll have hazing or cracking" that somehow won't appear as foundation flaws under the paint they spray OVER their own gelcoat. This also ignores that paint shows scratches and chips more easily than a material having color throughout, such as with Cobalt's colored gelcoat.

That said, a shiny new paint job can make a boat look almost like a car in terms of depth and sparkle, and some people (e.g. ski or wakeboard boats) may simply prefer that look in a boat...

paint looks nice but I'd rather have gelcoat and maintain it than have to repaint to cover up dings
