Do battery tray straps work?

I have a pair of these Attwood battery trays. Despite being super inexpensive (under $12 at Amazon) and made of plastic, these battery trays are still working great after 15 years. Who knew that anything from the Cobalt factory could cost less than $100?

I have a love/hate relationship with these battery trays. On one hand they just won’t break, plus they seem to keep the batteries very securely in place. On the other hand, since I swap out my batteries at least twice a year, I am futzing with removing and then reinstalling a total of four threaded rods. While hanging upside down in the wakeboard compartment. In the dark. While having a stainless steel bracket embed itself into my chest. Fun times.:x

I have been wondering whether the battery tray style that uses straps works very well? I’m thinking that unclipping and reclipping two buckles would be much easier and quicker than the existing setup? If I upgrade to the Duracell Platinum AGM batteries from Sam’s Club like bruceb58 is recommending, I’m going to have to get new battery trays in any event. I’m open to other brands or styles of battery trays if there are better options?

Either way your fine. The coast guard just cares that they are strapped down.

So the straps do a good job of holding the battery securely? No issues of the straps fraying or the plastic buckles breaking over time?
