Wondering what these switches are for

Post by Oldsride »

Can someone please tell me what these accessory switches would run on a 293?

Do you have captains choice or captains call exhaust? If so, that might be one of them.

The switches might be there for a factory option that was not installed.

For example, I have a switch and breaker which are both labeled “Accessory”. After reviewing the electrical drawings that the factory sent me, it looked like that switch and breaker were originally used for a galley pump. After some wire tracing and testing I discovered that Cobalt still had that “unused” breaker feeding that “unused” switch. The factory had even installed the wiring from the switch to where the galley pump would have been installed. The really weird part is that the galley pump wasn’t even an available option for my model year, or even the previous couple of model years.

I don’t have Captains Call, but there is an existing switch with that label. Other switches are labeled Macerator, Wiper, and Docking Lights - none of which I have.

Your 293 is a 2001 model year?

I have captains call but it has the switch on the dash.
I flip these switches but do not hear anything or have found anything they might work.
I just purchased this boat and trying to learn about things.
So you are saying it is for the fresh water pump?
What runs the pump for the drain in the washroom. Is it controlled by a float on that pump only? Or is it also have a switch for it.

Yes my boat is a 2001

Future use for any potential accessories the owner wanted to add.

Not at all. I was just pointing out that your switches could be for some past option that is now discontinued. The more likely explanation is that the switches are for future use as Holy Smokes suggested.

On my boat there is no transom shower (yet), but the wiring and connector is there to add one. I don’t have a dash switch for a transom shower as the transom shower would have a switch installed near the shower. The transom shower wiring shares a circuit breaker with the air pump 12 Volt receptacle.

The best thing you could do is call the factory and request the electrical diagrams for your boat.

Let us know what you find out.
