2005 Cobalt 250 BR - Aftermarket Guages

Post by DRondina01 »

Hi everyone - Picked up a 2005 250BR recently. Looking to do some "upgrades and relocations"

Looking for some recommendations on aftermarket gauges replacements. Would love to go digital if possible. Curious if anyone has had any luck?

Thank all!

-Dom

*edit - Looking at center mounting a Garmin 94sv which is why I'm looking to shuffle things around a bit.

So glad you found us DR01. Thanks for the dash pics too. Do you have a hull shot?

Haven't done any digital upgrades but others here may chime in with some ideas.

How is she powered?

And welcome aboard mate.

Hey Gopherlips...so glad you found us!

Which 2004 Cobalt model? Any pics?

We had Faria gauges in our Donzi and I always liked their look.

Funny username btw.

And welcome aboard mate!

I went ahead and upgraded all the gauges. swapped in a GPS speedo. Added a Marine radio and Garmin chart plotter. Changed out the voltage gauge for a digital and mounted behind the wheel. then moved the Fuel gauge from center and placed where the old voltage gauge was. Used the center hole for a wire route to the Garmin with a nice filler to run the wires through.

Pics below.

Also added a complete NEMA 2000 network with a couple parts from Yacht Devices. Used their Engine gateway with the 10 pin EFI adaptor to get engine data sent to the chart plotter.

Does the Garmin show RPM? The reason I ask is because it looks like the chart plotter now hides that very important gauge.

Yes. The NEMA 2000 network I installed sends RPM to the chart plotter so I have it there

Also kinda curious why you installed a GPS speedometer since that should also show on the chartplotter.

The factory speedo stopped working so I had swapped that first before the chart plotter install. With hindsight, I never would have bothered.
