Does anyone know if you can repair a cracked block with JB weld?

I have a cracked block and I’m getting estimates around 8-10k to replace the engine. The boat cost 8k so not sure if I should double down so looking for alternatives.

I can tell you it's been done. Depends on where it is and how big it is. You can start by drilling a hole at both ends of the crack to stop spreading and then prep the crack as you see fit. I'm going to say the bigger your stones are to open it up to get the epoxy in, the higher your rate of success. Patching with JB weld or other material would be dependent on where I boat. The more remote and further from help, the less likely I would do it.
Having said that, I know of two boats and one car that were repaired and have ran for years. YMMV.

My father in law helped me use it on a cracked exhaust manifold on my 1992 Toyota Carola in college. It worked ok till I could save up for a new one, but it did fall off a few times. We didn't prep the crack at all we basically just covered the crack with it.
