Blue Angels practice schedule is out, so if you are coming down with your boats anytime this spring/summer you can get a great “personal” air show on your boat in the bays just south of NAS Pensacola. It’s a great bay with some sandy beach islands that are fun to explore as well. They normally take off around 10 AM.

The Naval Air Museum is worth a visit also.

We're heading down there in a couple weeks but it looks like the museum is off limits without a military connection?

I haven't been there since 1996, but it was open to the public. My wife and I went to Pensacola Beach for our first anniversary and loved it.

I can't think of any reason that it would be closed to the public.

Unfortunately that is currently the case. Since 2019, after the terrorist attack shooting, public access to the base has been limited. However, any DoD ID card holder active, retired, or dependents, can escort as many people as they can legally fit in their car with them through the gate. Probably find some sailors out in town at a bar to make friends with over a few rounds of beer!

That's a good picture. If one can view these beautiful birds from the water, they should. My wife and I took my daughters back in 2018 (road trip from KS To FL for a week in Pensacola) and it was a great time. The museum was great as well, so I'm sad to hear it's now closed to the public.

We did the museum in June of '95 on our honeymoon. Loved it.

I ran into a Navy Veteran at a car show this weekend and he said the Air Museum has reopened. I checked the website and it shows they have reopened. It is worth a visit!
