I have a 2021 CS22 with a Volvo Penta 240hp V6-DPS. The specs show that the engine is rated at 5,800 RPM. However, mine maxes out at around 5,000 RPM. The owners manual says that if the engine doesn't reach the rated RPMs that it maybe a sign that there is an issue. My mechanic said that 5,000 is typical and it is nothing to worry about. What do you guys think? Is it something to be worried about? If so, what are some of the likely causes? Thanks!

Sounds way to low. Others will come in. I'm by far not a 240 expert.
Stupid question did you trim the motor up while under way?

You are correct, it should top out at 5800 rpm lightly loaded. Either there is an issue, faulty gauge or the boat is over- propped. I'd have the mechanic put it on a scanner.

Sounds like the classic wrong prop installed. Yes, it has happened to me not once but twice on brand new boat purchases.

Find a new mechanic. Anyone who tells you 5K rpms is the norm for that motor does not know the motor. It should top off at 5800 lightly loaded and trimmed. If not it may be over propped. Did you buy the boat new or used? Has it always been this way? What prop is on the boat. I believe it should be a FH4

This may be something I need to have checked out on my '22 CS22 too then. Maxed out and 3-5% trim, I'm toppoing around 5200 rpm. Bought brand new with .9 hours on it.
