Discounts being seen on New Cobalts

Post by Jeffrey262 »

Has anyone purchased New lately? What are people seeing as far as discounts? I know margins are between 25 to 35%, so I’m looking aggressively.

I was going to chime in that 20% seems like a reasonable target with the softening economy. 25% might be ambitious, but people were sometimes getting that back in the 2010s.

20% good for June. Maybe 25% in September on floor models.

I just bought a 2006 226 from a dealer a week ago. I got right at 20%. It took almost a month of back and forth though.

I Located a carry over model 2022 r8 w twin 300 OB. Really surprised it’s not sold. Being that it new and a 2022, I’m going to chat with the local Cobalt rep and see what discount they would offer.

For those who own an R8, you you feel there is plenty of room without feeling crowded? I’m coming from a Formula 370ss that felt very spacious. I think anything larger from Cobalt would not be trailerable. The A29 is nice but serndrive single engine. I thought about going back to Formula with twin stern drive but that puts me back to the start - not be able to tow.

Supply and demand dictates.
When supply was east to come by, I bought our boat at roughly 35% off in 2017.
Today, I’d be happy with 20-25%

I road on an R8 last summer on Lake Geneva and was totally impressed with the performance of the single 380 (If I recall correctly) and the size of the interior. The boat came on plane immediately. I have a 262 and the inside of the R8 seemed so spacious comparing to my boat. The twin 300 OB's would be a fun ride.

Hi,

When you speak of a 20% discount, are you saying 20% off the total MSRP?

Thanks in advance!
Thanks,

Bill

We purchased a left over 2022 R8 in April for just over 30% off Suggested Retail. The only negotiating we really did at that price was have a mooring cover thrown in, $2200 option I believe.

At that time we were also considering a 2023 R6. The dealer was quoting 16% off Suggested Retail. I didn't have any back and forth with the dealer on the R6 but I would think getting to 20% off would be reasonable.

Thanks! Very much appreciated. I am looking hard at the R8. It's tough to decide on color and options!
Thanks,
