Advice Needed: 2020 R5 surf or 2022 R6 surf

Post by TheBigNasty »

Happy 4th of July! Newbie here! I have searched here looking for a human review of the differences in the two systems but have only seen videos..Anyone have a real life experience with both? Looking to make a purchase in the next 30days..obviously cost is a difference but not too much considering we will keep for a long time. We are just getting back into to boating as our kids are all now grown and pretty much done with sports & activities. Last boat we had was a 2002 Sea Ray Sundeck 260 that we sold in 2014 after 10yrs of use.

Thanks in advance for your help!

If you're planning on to use as a surf boat, go with the R6. The R5 might be be a better choice is you seldom surf.

Get the R6!

So we had a 2020 R7 Surf... we were constantly looking for and search for ways to "make the wave better". Finally we had a chance to surf on an R8 Surf... It's a world of difference. Without question you should get the R6 Surf! It will throw a monumentally better wave than the R5 surf will.

We liked our R7S but we love our R8S. The even series R's really are the best of both worlds.

No problem... the R5 surf Is a great boat and it puts out a wave that you can Surf on and with a fat sack or a full boat it would be fine, but if financially you can do the 6 I promise you will be so much happier surf wise.

I have the R6 Surf and my buddy has an R5 Surf. The R5 throws a decent wave but it kind of is what it is with the big surf tabs. Not REALLY a lot of push and the pocket is tiny. My R6 in comparison has a pretty massive wave and when you run the speed up to like 12.2mph, it's probably 25' long of surfable wave. The pocket is pretty huge as well and it is overall a different surf experience. That R6 in the pics has the platinum sound with the Roswells, which is by far the best sounding stereo setup I've ever heard on the water. Legit, nothing will compare to it.

Really appreciate the real world feedback! That R6 surf has been my favorite and I keep going back to it. It’s been sitting for a long time along with a couple R4surfs I’ve been considering too. Thanks

I love the look of that boat and the interior but! Practical I think not. I'm sure someone will say it doesn't get hot. Lol
Have them park that boat outside in the sun and then jump in it with barefeet and a spray bottle.
