Didn’t see a thread for this month, so here we are!

Pulling her out after an extra long weekend in Lake Hamilton. This trip, unlike the last a couple years, saw us leaving without having gone rock farming with the prop.

I’ve gotten spoiled by the north end of Beaver lake! The water here’s so murky.. but it’s water. I guess I’ll stop my complaining there!

Interesting comment on the water. When we first started boating, we'd trailer to lakes in north Mississippi where the visibility in the water is maybe three feet. First time we went to Lake Hamiltion, my daughter, maybe 11 or 12 at time, starting yelling "Daddy, Daddy!" I rushed to see what the matter was. She said, "I can see my feet."

Regarding water quality; I've become such a snob spending the past four seasons on Winnipesaukee. It is amazingly clean. You can see down 15-20 feet. We live on a small river at our primary residence. It's slow moving, dark and murky. Used to swim in it all the time before getting our slip at the lake. Now we basically only fish in it.

We boat in Lake Erie, and the Niagara River which flows to the Falls.
It's amazing how clean and clear the water is. No real need to even wash the boat when we retrieve, although I do it for the water spots.
You can see a bottom that is aqua blue, and fish galore.

Chautauqua Lake on the other hand, green, full of seaweed, and the boat looks like $hit coming out. No chance I swim in that cesspool, or most other inland lakes.

Lake Powell.

We took the Cobalt up to Lake Powell. This year, we rented a houseboat and invited the kids and some of their friends. It was a lot of work.

The boat ran great. The biggest issue was dragging our anchor(s) in the nightly windstorms. We have a large box anchor that I thought would hold the boat, but it didn't, so the next night we put the large and medium box anchors down and they still dragged about 30 feet. The bottom was sandy mud.

Overall we had good weather. We rented a Starlink and that was really great. Starlink is an amazing service. 30 dollars per day was well worth it. https://borrowstarlink.com/
