Not sure how to access the internals of my shifter mechanism on my '96 220 with VP DP. Need to lube the shifter cable.
Can anyone tell me how to get the control box off the side panel? Not much room below the panel, so I'd rather not start guessing.
Any experience doing this out there?

I did something similar but after reassembly my Merc shifter was having difficulty moving correctly. I took it to my marine tech and he got it working correctly. They can be tricky at times.
