Blue led accent lights

Post by Jdflyer »

Hi everyone. We just bought our first boat, a 2017 R5, and we are very excited. Going to take it out later this week for the first time. Will post pictures then.

I didn’t get any of the manuals so I’m figuring thing out as we go.

Time for my first question on the boat

The blue accent lights. I can’t figure out how to turn them on. I rotate the knob under the starboard side of the wheel and nothing happens. All the other lights work. Am I missing something? I even tried it at night in case they didn’t come on during the day.

You sure they don't cone on with the interior light switch? I don't have a knob...sure sounds like it may just be a dimmer that was added.

On our boat, the knob is for the interior RGB lights that also light up the Cobalt logo on the arch. The blue lights are on the light switch on the panel.

Thanks Kate. No additional information in there

That’s the lights I’m referring to. I tried it with all the lights control buttons on the dash on but still nothing

I'm guessing from the previous posts that you've tried switch 4 on p. 3-21 of the manual (interior lights), alone and in conjunction with accent lights and dimmer knob 20 on the same page. As I understand it, the knob is optional but should control the wakeboard arch accent lights if you have one.

If that doesn't do it, I'd probably start looking at a burned out bulb or other potential problem.

So switch 4 turns on the white interior lights. That works fine. The knob under the dash I believe is for the led accents

On mine, you have to press and hold the switch for a few seconds and that turns on the RGB lighting...The knob then controls the light level.

No Prob! and to clarify the knob both turns and when pressed it's a button, hold the button down. Not sure why I said switch...

Dang, they must have updated the lighting, mine is 2019. Are the lights you're referring to throughout the boat or?? I would be looking for fuses or loose wires, starting at that switch...

I believe they shifted from blue LEDs to RGBs in either 2018-2019. I’m looking for a fuse today. I know it’s not a breaker in the box

So I have no power going to the rheostat and all the circuit breakers in the starboard bow storage area are ok with each breaker receiving power.

All the aft circuit breakers (by the Battery on off switch) are also fine.

How do I go about chasing this problem. I got the wiring diagram (attached) from cobalt but it is vague on how it receives power. Total of 4 wires going into rheostat with 2 of them red wires labeled + in and the other + out
