Cobalt Chat - Chautauqua Lake/Niagara River Meet Up

Post by ajcampen »

We had interest here a couple months ago on a Chq/Niagara meet up.

BB & Ytmsn flying in.

Liquid, T, A7, Whipple and myself driving in.

Any others who have interest would be awesome.

We should start putting dates on the calendar.

Any interest in June 15-17th?

Figure we could do a day on chq lake and a day on Niagara river. Those from far away could hit up Niagara Falls on Thursday or Sunday.

I recommend staying in Chautauqua Inst. beautiful historic place. I could find nice places to stay. free docks that time of year.

What do u all think? Let’s firm up dates. How do we get John to come?

That's Father's Day weekend. That may affect some folks but I would be down for that I think.

IMO, I would look a week or two further into June. Mid June weather can go either way. Father's Day weekend will be extremely busy on the water. Probably the first big boating weekend of the summer. The closer to July, the better the potential for summer weather. I agree that the Chautauqua Lake area will probably be the most enjoyable for out of towners. Just a beautiful place.. Bemus Point is another nice hotel area choice.

For the trip to the river, we can tow up to the outer harbor and launch. Brand new launch area and ramps that were built by the state, so you know our tax dollars built the best. Plenty of parking, wash down area and in a great spot.

It'll be next spring by the time he reads this anyways he's over analyzing lol how he can get 10 people in that 190 for this trip.

T what weekend r u thinking? June 29 / July 6 / July 13th?
No matter where base camp is set up everything is easy to get to by water&car.
Bemus point (hotel lenhart) is a good spot to stay and Mayville (Webb’s) is a good spot. Chautauqua is like Disney world and requires tickets to get in during there season (June 24 to late August) so not a great place to stay during that time. But we can boat over, walk around and eat/drink on my parents porch.
We can watch BB and A7 driving WOT @ 70mph back and forth down the lake.

AJ,
I’m good other than Father’s Day weekend and the weekend leading up to and on the 4th because of our business.
Maybe soon after the 4th?
I’m always concerned about early June weather. Just tough to rely on. It could be beautiful, or it could be like this past year where it sucked. I’d hate to have our friends travel far and not enjoy the boating we have here..

I normally take off the week of the 4th so really 4-7 works for me prob. Leave on the 8th. I have no idea what the family has going on. So I would say anytime right after the 4th is good.

Well, we will have to get a few guys together and go over there and bust him out!
I’ll be taking some winter pics because we snowmobile to that area regularly.

After the 4th should be the target date if everyone can schedule it. If the weather cooperates, it would be great to launch at Sturgeon Point Marina and take the half hour ride into Buffalo. It will all depend on the wind. The lake should be like glass that time of year, or another scene from the Deadliest Catch if it’s windy. I like to shoot straight across the lake and run along the Canadian coast until we reach the river. If it’s windy, we can launch at the Outer Harbor. The river is usually nowhere near as bad as the lake.
The cruise back to Sturgeon is very relaxing at night..

It’s all coming together.

Love T’s ideas.

Would A7 consider picking up B.B. and Ytmsn in a rented airplane.

Below is a pic of A7 played by Burt reynold in cannonball run landinding in small town to buy beer
