Re: Fiberglass cracking - BRAND NEW R4 Surf 2023
Thank you for your response. I'll address this with my dealer and see what they say. I may just have to talk directly to cobalt. I'm afraid they may come back and say they used the same backing plates they did on every other boat. Hopefully enough people will complain and they will do the right thing!

Re: Fiberglass cracking - BRAND NEW R4 Surf 2023
I had spider cracks 3 times in my 2016 on the swim step. The first 2 times they fixed under warranty, the last time was less than 30 days out of warranty and Cobalt wouldn't touch it. Don't wait. I'm curious, so we had a few spider cracks that were repaired under warranty just last spring. The shop...

Re: Anyone move from a R3 to R4 or R5 to R6?
We went from an R7 surf to an R8 surf... The reason was for the wave. Our R8S puts out a great wave, loaded unloaded, people in the bow people not in the bow. We have really enjoyed it. We could get a decent wave on our R7 IF we had a fat sac or a lot of people on board and no one could sit in the b...

Re: 2021 CS23 Spider Cracking GelCoat/Fiberglass
It will be interesting to see if mine comeback next spring. That would be my last year of warranty... if they do Maybe I have them fixed and get a new boat??? Problem is there are no guarantees my next boat won't have them.

Re: 2021 CS23 Spider Cracking GelCoat/Fiberglass
Well, my boat is 2 years old and has spider cracking in the fiberglass by the tower assembly. It was repaired under warranty last fall, and has come back this summer. Anyone else have this issue? Or any advice to deal with this issue. Obviously Cobalt is not going to give me a new boat, but this ca...

Re: My Brand New CS23 and Intro
We have always towed a tube from the tower. We were also concerned at first whether the tower was sturdy enough for tubing. So we asked the dealer and the Cobalt factory whether we were doing it wrong. The answer came back that the tower was designed for tube towing. Did they fib to us? I take anyt...

Re: Fiberglass cracking - BRAND NEW R4 Surf 2023
Any advice feedback would be greatly appreciated. So no advice per se but maybe you'll take comfort in what I have to say. So we ordered custom from the factory same as you our 2022 R8 surf and had two spider cracks our first season. What is very interesting to me is that mine were in the exact sam...

Re: Wave Customization 2023 R8 Surf
We have found that the lower the TPM the smaller the wave and the higher the TPM the higher the wave. To lengthen the wave we go a little faster. We usually use full ballast and then 3 degrees on the tpm and 11.5 mph will give you a great wave. Also if you play around with the menu options you will ...

Re: R4 surf water sports setup
Are your surf gates deploying? Like you have looked over the edge and you can see them. We've had a few times when we forget to push surf left or surf right and we get that washed out wave. I'm wondering if maybe even though you have surf left or surf right engaged on the screen maybe the gate isn't...

Re: Ideal rope length for wakeboard
Most if not all modern ski ropes, unless they are specifically made for slalom skiing have segments in them where you can disconnect the rope to get a good distance for wake boarding etc. I would think the correct distance to hit the "sweet spot" would depend on your wake and hull, maybe i...

Re: FINALLY I got up on the wave!
Congratulations! Surfing is fun and for those of us that are not as young as we used to be it's a fun way to participate in water sports without worrying about tearing some muscle/tendon etc... Ha ha! My wife and I spend hours out taking turns. Makes us feel young again!

Re: Advice Needed: 2020 R5 surf or 2022 R6 surf
No problem... the R5 surf Is a great boat and it puts out a wave that you can Surf on and with a fat sack or a full boat it would be fine, but if financially you can do the 6 I promise you will be so much happier surf wise.

Re: Advice Needed: 2020 R5 surf or 2022 R6 surf
Get the R6! So we had a 2020 R7 Surf... we were constantly looking for and search for ways to "make the wave better". Finally we had a chance to surf on an R8 Surf... It's a world of difference. Without question you should get the R6 Surf! It will throw a monumentally better wave than the ...

Re: Retired Service Manager for a large Cobalt Dealer
A question. We just bought a CS22. A perfect little boat for our lake. In talking to the dealer and configuring the boat he recommended the V8 300hp dual prop. I have about 5 hours on this boat. It is a LOT of engine. But I know you never have to push a throttle although it can be a bit jumpy and w...
