One of two hour meters is not working

Post by boatdoc40 »

1999 292 with less than 300 hours Twin 350s with bravo 3s

My starboard engine hour meter has not worked for some time; the port meter works fine. Thoughts? I THINK the meter is fed from the coil, but am not sure. Should I try to trace the circuit or replace the meter?

Bill as that era was key on and not switched for trigger of running ( oil pressure) look at your ignition switch .
Possibly remove the wiring plug and reinstall at switch and hobb meter.
It should click every 6-10 seconds.
If you have no resources to check for 12v at the meter... Swap them over to determine power. Nice having twins!
Then you’ll know if it’s the meter or 12v loss.

Agree with Matt of course. Did you check the meters against the ECU hours?

I have a nice Fluke automotive multimeter, so I can check for 12V anywhere. Will do, and thanks to you both.

Yea I can get at all of my wires pretty easy. I disconnected it to match up with the ecu plus or minus 200 hours. Lol
