New Garage...

Post by kas232ca »

And a house to go with it! We bought a new place in Lake Havasu. One problem is that it cut into my airplane budget, so that's gonna have to wait.

Will take some new pics when we pull the boat out of storage and into its new garage. We do need to add a couple of mini-split HVAC systems in the garage to keep it coolish during the summer. We also need to talk to a solar company to see if it will be worth it to add solar.

The large garage side is 21'x60' with a 14' door. The small side is appx. 20'x26' for a total of about 1775sq. ft.
We thought about buying a lot and building ourselves but decided to buy one that was on the market. It is only 2 years old and I'm guessing it has only been used 30 days or so.

Here are a couple more pics: Note that the area on the other side of the road towards the lake is a wildlife refuge and further down is a state park, so it won't be built on. The shot with the boat is the garage is the previous owner's boat.

No grass and no snow. Just rocks and cactuses.

Across the way is a fishing dock and a launch area for non-motorized boats. The normal launch ramp is about a mile to the south in the state park.

The land in the foreground is Arizona, across the lake is California. I have a California fishing license and can fish on the Arizona side as long as I can see California.

that is quite the garage you have got there! So I am assuming you have to launch and retrieve every time you go boating? and does the cat in the garage come with the house??

There are short term and long term rental docks available at the marina, but we have never used one. We have an annual AZ state park pass so using the launch ramps are included in the fee.

The seller kept the cat but tried to sell me the jet-ski. We passed on that as we already have 2 that didn't get used in the past year. Eventually, I'd like to get a Polaris or Can-Am like pictured as they are street legal there.

Make sure it's flopping around on the floor.
How far is your place from downtown. Do you leave during spring break or watch the craziness?

If I'm ever able to catch anything, it will be released before it gets near the boat. We don't keep anything.

The house is a couple of miles from London Bridge, so it should be pretty quiet. Hopefully, we can spend 1 or 2 weekends there per month.

While I don't mind viewing the spring break 'activities', my wife not so much. The problem with spring break is that it now lasts like 6 weeks since various schools have all different schedules. The spring break crowd usually just hangs in the channel near the London Bridge. It is also my understanding that Lake Havasu isn't as popular for spring break now as they have really cracked down on underage drinking. Maybe that's why Mexico, Costa Rica, Belize, etc. are so popular now.
