Who loves a good remodel thread??

Post by tgrace98 »

Hey all like every year I needed to find a project to keep me busy over the winter while the boat was put away. So we decided to remodel our kitchen at the lake! We bought the place a little over 2 years ago and it needs a full face lift. So here is what we started with. Hello 1989

So the first thing we did was remove the mirror wall in the kitchen and it was an absolute bear to get down. And as you can see it completely ruined the wall board so we either had to replace the drywall or cover it up with something else. Thanks to our friends at hgtv we decided to cover it up with ship lap!

Next game demo day! And we completely gutted the kitchen we did not like the layout as the refrigerator door would hit one wall and the stove was up against another so it made 2 burners impossible to use

And the finished product! It was about 2 months of work due to using contractors and waiting on stuff to come in and living 4hrs away. But we loce it! Our dream was to open up the space a little and make it look like a lake cabin. I believe we achieved it. While still small it’s perfect for our weekend getaways

Congrats. Yes that drive thing and the fridge thing would drive anyone nuts.
Sweet job. Can't wait to see it in person in a few months.

Great play by play. It really looks amazing and with your HGTV wall ( Chip and Joanne would be proud). It ties it in.

How’s that monster ice maker? Can it keep up🤣

Looks awesome, I was really impressed until you mentioned waiting on contractors. You should edit that part of the post :D

We did a good portion ourselves I should have said but did hire some to do the cabinets and counters.

And yes the bathroom wall paper is still in tact 🤣

It looks great, I don't blame you at all for having someone do counters, I just had to make the joke.

And you HAVE to keep some of that bathroom wall paper. I would frame a piece when you finally do take it all down. Future generations need to know how awesome it was.

I did a little remodeling of the kitchen myself last year. I went from this 8" galley kitchen....

To this 19' galley kitchen....

I did most of the work myself only having some specialized assistance like the granite install. I did this last year which is why the boat restoration was slow getting done.
