New kid on the block

Post by BigDaddy »

Hi everyone from Switzerland!
I am at the point of ordering a new boat. Since 2009 my family and I were riding a Mastercraft X-2 (with lots of additional ballast). We now moved to another region with a much larger lake in the South of Switzerland, which can get choppy with wind. I tested (and surfed) the Mastercraft X-24 which was quite impressive. Since my wife and I also want to cruise and explore the Italian shore of the lake, I consider buying the R6 Surf. Has anyone surfed the R6 by now? How does the wake really compare? It is very difficult to make this decision since the R-6 surf is not yet available in Switzerland. Any thoughts are welcome!

Hey BD...welcome to the CobaltChat forum. So glad you found us!

We looked at the X24 as well at a boat show. Heck of a machine.

The Cobalt will ride MUCH nicer but as you know the surfing quality will not be what you are used to on the lake.

Any pics of your X24? How about a beautiful Switzerland lake pic too! :D

Hopefully some others who will have surfed behind the R6 will chime in shortly.

Again, welcome aboard mate!

Sure!....and great to have another Switzerland representative on the forum. We have a forum member (username United) who is also posting from Switzerland. His intro is here. Maybe you can connect.

Hopefully a Cobalt will be in your future.
I'm curious on the shipping cost if your purchase an R6. Any idea?

The indication of price remains quite vague, since for Switzerland there are not yet published prices out for the R6 Surf. I guestimate a fully loaded boat will come to approx. USD 225m. How much of that is allocated to shipping, I do not (yet) know... Boating in Switzerland is extremely expensive. For instance, the fuel at the pump will cost at least USD 5,6 p.Gallon....
