We got the boat on the new trailer this weekend and took the boat out for a bit. The lake was packed.

I still have to dial in the position of the boat. I want to find a scale so I can figure out the tongue weight as the truck squats quite a bit more than with the old trailer. But, the old trailer might not have been correct either. I am guessing the boat + trailer + 1/2 tank of fuel + gear = 7125 lbs. This truck can pull 8900 lbs so optimally, I would want about 750 lbs on the hitch I think.

Was lucky enough to spend a few days in Como, Italy last month and had the pleasure of cruising Lake Como in this 1958 Riva Tritone for a few hours. Was a wonderful time! :)

Nice looking trailer! Lol. Did you ever figure out what your tongue weight is? Loadmaster builds their trailers to be a little heavy on the tongue so they pull better. I know mine is heavy but I’ve never cared enough to weigh it.

Yes, just got back from the lake and the main project was to figure out the tongue weight. It was 115+ degrees, so it was too hot to boat anyway. I used the scale at the nursery that also sells decorative rock so they have a truck scale.

I first weighed the truck with the trailer attached, then removed the trailer. The way I originally set it up as per Loadmaster had 1100 lbs on the tongue. Too much for this truck. So, I took it down to the ramp, floated it and adjusted the bow stop up a bit, then pulled the boat tight. It took a couple of tries, but I moved it back about 6 inches. Back at the nursery, the new number came back to just a hare over 800 lbs. At 11.5% trailer weight I am good with that. It is hanging off the back a bit more than Loadmaster suggested, so maybe next time out I will move it back up just a bit.

This is with 800 lbs on the tongue, plus check out the temp on Friday night:

You can keep those temps! We just had 102 degrees on Thursday with a dew point at 78 degrees.. that’s hot enough to melt this snowman!!

Good to know about the tongue weight, I would guess I’m at or over 1000lbs too, it will squat my F150 without any air in the air bags.
